BYU Men's Rugby Policies
BYU Rugby is known for its rich competitive history and tradition due in part to the overwhelming amount of media attention it has received over the years. BYU teams have been featured on television, radio, Web sites and in magazines and newspapers nationwide.
Our Rugby Program Communications Staff works closely with student-athletes and coaches in servicing media requests. The office diligently works to provide the latest releases, notes, quotes and statistics to the media. All information can be found online at www.rugby.byu.edu.
The following is general information for members of the media. Policies may vary from match to match.
Player and coaches interviews must be scheduled through the Rugby Program Communications Staff. Interview requests must be made 24 hours in advance unless it is breaking news. Telephone interviews must be arranged through the Rugby Program Communications Staff.
A weekly release will be issued via e-mail and will be available at www.rugby.byu.edu. Notes, season statistics, rosters, programs and media guides will be provided to working media prior to each home competition if available.
Official statistics will be made available after each game and upon completion of the game/match if available. Coaches and student-athletes will be available after the competition for interviews and quotes. Please coordinate with onsite Rugby Program Communications Staff to liaise these interviews and quotes, unless a post-game press conference is noted for that match.
The Rugby Program Communications Staff seeks to accommodate media members in many different aspects, including the working environment. For BYU Rugby home games media members are invited to utilize the North Sideline event enclosure. Wireless Internet and power outlets are available for all media members.
The weekly release, most up-to-date news, statistics and information is available 24 hours a day on BYU’s official rugby Web site: www.rugby.byu.edu. To receive the weekly release and post-event recaps via email please contact the Rugby Program Communications Staff.
Requests for press, broadcast and photo credentials for home events should be made to the Rugby Program Communications Staff.
Credentials will be issued only to accredited photographers and TV reporters/camera operators on assignment from their media outlet. Photographers can obtain rosters and information regarding where they can shoot during the event from the Rugby Program Communications Staff on site.
